Located along the I-90 corridor, Cougar Mountain is the gateway to Issaquah and the Issaquah Alps from the west. The northeast corner of Cougar Mountain contains mature forests, ravines with creeks and riparian wildlife just minutes from the valley floor and public transit. The purpose of Save Cougar Mountain is to protect the corridor known as the Bergsma properties from development and to preserve this land for the benefit of the public and future generations. To this end, we have been working since 2017 toward the purchase of this 46 acre parcel of land. On December 3, 2018 the City of Issaquah agreed to acquire the Bergsma properties and on February 27, 2019 our dream of public ownership became a reality. The mission of Save Cougar Mountain continues as we support the City in its efforts to obtain long term financing for this treasured land. Only then can we be assured that it will remain in the public domain in perpetuity.
